New Group Logo and Brand Identity
Over the last fifty odd years, the name 'MINDA' has been regarded as a committed name for service to its clients, partners, employees and stakeholders. Late Sh. S L Minda started the Minda Group, with the singular intent of entering India’s automotive industry, an industry that had just taken birth at that time. The original form of the existing ‘MINDA’ logo was instituted in 1958 and both the brothers have been using this logo.
Since then, both Groups have seen many changes and transformations to their present state. Today, as they stand on the brink of a global churn and rapidly evolving market realities, the two Groups have decided to adopt new brand identities; to pursue opportunities in similar and diversified businesses, and carve their own niches.
The introduction of new corporate brand identities is aimed to clearly express this transformation, as well as to further strengthen their respective corporate images. This decision was a functional split with no conflict of interest between the two Groups. This mutual decision is in the overall interest of long term growth of both the groups. The most important objective of this was to distill, define and express the Ashok Minda Group’s Brand Identity & help key stakeholders relate with it.
To put into practice the decision taken, a committee was formed. After undertaking several procedures a common conclusion was arrived to renaming our Group Corporate Identity from MINDA to SPARK MINDA. While on the other hand, N.K Minda Group has transformed to be known as UNO MINDA.
Spark represents energy and symbolizes passion; Spark is all about vibration and speed. It builds up an attitude to do things aggressively and with enthusiasm. The word gives us a distinct identity that will boost our inner confidence and our efforts towards building a globally recognized brand. It will help us to move towards our target of becoming India’s largest automotive component supplier in the World. We should accomplish it with great zeal, competency and willingness while nurturing individual talent making SPARKMINDA a happy, inspiring and a proud place to work. The modified ‘A’ in the logo takes the form of the tip of an arrow and is indicative of our intention and ambitions to grow, to achieve and to be the best.
With a new corporate logo, we have only one mission- to be an automotive System Solution provider and Build a Brand recognized by vehicle manufacturers progressively all over the world, as an organization providing products and systems Unparalleled in Quality and Price’.
We have been “on the move” till now but to achieve our new audacious goal of becoming India’s largest automotive component supplier, we are “powered by passion”. It is an idea represented through our vision statement - “To be a Dynamic, Innovative and Profitable global automotive organization for emerging as the Preferred Supplier and Employer to create value for all Stakeholders.”
Our new baseline- ‘POWERED BY PASSION’ not only captures the new Group name but also reflects the personality of our group members. Passion is the common and most vital ingredient in every endeavor of the group, for we truly believe that ‘If there is no passion, it’s not worth it’.
Red in the logo is indicative of action energy. Red is passion, aggression, dynamism and the maverick streak of the group.
Blue is intellectual energy, Blue is knowledge, depth, diligence, intelligence and stability.
In its entirety, the new group logo is reflective of continuity with dynamism. It combines the strength of the past with the ambition and drive of the present Ashok Minda Group.
To communicate this change to the various audiences as planned, it was done in different modes of communication.
These have been carried out by all business groups respectively. This identity change in the DEALERS will take effect from April 1st, 2012.
In January, the 11th Auto Expo 2012, Ashok Minda Group had participated under the new identity of SPARK MINDA, Ashok Minda Group.

Rightly so, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) agreed to the draft preamble for the road naming ceremony and the Mayor of Delhi, Dr. Rajani Abbi announced the naming of the Road at Block D-81 to 128 as ‘Shadi Lal Minda Marg’, Kamla Nagar, New Delhi on 3rd October 2011. Like all successful events this event too was successfully organised due to the collective effort of many individuals. The planning of the event started as early as July 2011. Shri Chandra Bhushan (Bhushan Traders) mooted the idea to Mr. Nitin Gupta husband of Mrs. Renu Gupta, Councillor-Kamla Nagar, New Delhi who all are good friends of the Minda Family and idea began to take shape. Our beloved Babuji, started his business and social activities from D-81, Kamla Nagar and therefore it was befitting that the road in front of the Minda Industries office may be named as Shadi Lal Minda Marg. The idea was immediately accepted by Mr Nirmal Minda and Mr Ashok Minda. The work of organising and solemnising the event was then entrusted to Moga Devi Minda Charitable Trust (MDMCT) team headed by Mr. M C Joshi. For the past 3-4 decades Babuji was closely associated with business and socio-cultural activities of Delhi particularly Kamla Nagar and Ashok Vihar area. Babuji was actively involved with number of social organisations like, Antar Rashtriya Sahyog Parishad – an organisation that is committed to felicitate Non Resident Indian businessmen, professionals and social workers. Like a visionary he promoted quality education for children, health care facilities for the needy and encouraged the growth of socio-cultural activities. He devoted his life for social development and was involved with social organisations like Maharaja Agarsen Institute of Technology, Maharaja Agarsen Medical Education and Scientific Research Society, Nishkam Seva Trust, Tirth Vikas Trust, Maharaja Agarsen Ashram Trust, Agroha Vikas Trust, Haryana Maitri Trust, Agarawal Welfare Society, Agarsen Public School- Ashok Vihar, Maharaja Agarsen Hospital- Ashok Vihar and Maharaja Agarsen Dharamshala-Ashok Vihar, to name a few. He worked tirelessly for the upliftment of poor, needy and destitute children and started Minda Bal Gram – a home for destitute children. He also started Moga Devi Minda Memorial School and Minda Seva Kendra, now renamed as S. L. Minda Seva Kendra, for providing education and vocational training to rural youth, especially women. At the Government level, the role of the Kamla Nagar Councillor was pivotal as she guided that a representation for the naming of road is to be sent from the various socio-cultural organisations that Babuji was involved with, to the Mayor of Delhi, who incidentally heads the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Recommendatory Letters highlighting the noble works of Babuji in the various organisations were collected from the organisations and forwarded to Dr. Rajani Abbi, Mayor of Delhi via Ms. Renu Gupta, Councillor-Kamla Nagar. A covering letter sent by the Kamla Nagar Councillor indicating and requesting the Mayor to consider and permit the naming of the road in front of Block D, House No. 81 to 128 as ‘Shadi Lal Minda Marg’. On the appointed day a number of close friends, associates and relatives of Babuji were invited to participate in the ceremony and to immortalise the contributions made by him in the society. On the occasion Shri Nand Kishore Garg requested the Mayor to dedicate a Park at Ashok Vihar in the memory of Late Shri Shadi Lal Minda. Dr. Rajani Abbi agreed and announced that a Park at Ashok Vihar will soon be dedicated to recognise the social contributions of Late Shri Shadi Lal Minda and to his fond remembrance. The proposal is under process.

Set the foundation for the Country's finest auto components groups: the NK Minda Group and AK Minda Group Mr. Shadi Lal Minda, popularly known as Babuji, the founder of the Minda Group, passed away on April 17, 2010 at New Delhi. Born on March 08, 1930, Mr. Shadi Lal Minda was a distinguished business leader and philanthropist. Apart from founding the Minda Group in 1958, he was personally involved in many social development projects. Minda Group began as a small auto parts trading firm from Kolkata and Siliguri. It later took shape as National Industries in 1958 when Mr. Shadi Lal Minda chose to get into manufacturing of locks and switches for cars and scooters, from Delhi's Kamla Nagar area. Soon it had customers like Bajaj Auto and Hindustan Motors and opened a manufacturing unit in the Wazirpur Industrial Area, New Delhi. The Minda Group was later handed over to the two sons, with the switches business going to the elder son, Mr.Nirmal K Minda and the locks business to the younger son, Mr. Ashok Minda. Today, the Minda Group (comprising of the NK Minda Group and AK Minda Group) is the recognized leader in the auto component arena and has a combined turnover of around Rs.3,000 crores. Right from the start, in the 1950s, Mr. Shadi Lal Minda strongly felt the need for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as an inherent component of the manufacturing business. Minda Balgram, an initiative for homeless children set up by Mr. Shadi Lal Minda is recognized as one of the finest children homes in the country. As a model Minda Balgram operates on self-reliance. It has its own agricultural land, own dairy farm etc that caters to the needs of the children even while minimizing the dependence on the market.
